The Wahas
Cool kids The Wahas are fast emerging as the new buzz band of 2007. Taking their cue from such legendary acts as My Bloody Valentine and The Birthday Party, The Wahas have formed their own unique sound incorporating noisy pop guitars and psychedelic melodies with the retro jangle of tambourine. And all performed with the reckless abandonment of teenagers on the verge of something big. Rupert, Jack, Xavier, Tom and Cass formed The Wahas in early 2006 after meeting at high school and went on to headline at Sydney’s School of Rock gig at The Annandale Hotel a few months later before scoring a slot at Luna Park’s Come Together Festival. Proving their live shows were quickly causing a stir amongst Sydney’s tastemakers, The Wahas most recently supported super hip UK band The Horrors and now play regularly around Sydney’s best live venues such as Candy’s Apartment and Spectrum. Their debut EP ‘We Love The Wahas’ is the next step in showing the world what this band is made of. Showcasing songwriting prowess and musicianship beyond their age, this short play grabs you from the first beat of lead single ‘New Suit’ before taking you on a mini journey into the world of The Wahas. From beginning to end, ‘We Love The Wahas’ will impress and leave you wanting more. We love The Wahas, do you?
